Space Cases Quotes

1/31/2017

One of the TV series I loved as a teenager was  'Space Cases'.  Most kids from the 90s knew it as a Nickelodeon show but I discovered it during its run on TVOntario.

Summary: Five space academy students, their teacher and their principal sneak aboard an alien space ship then get transported into the far reaches of the galaxy.  The episodes follow their journey to get home, encountering a plethora of threatening, amusing and down-right weird creatures and circumstances along the way.

I was feeling a bit nostalgic this month so decided to post some of my favourite quotes from this silly, zany and ultimately fun show.  Here's a little contest to go along with the post:  Whoever correctly guesses the speaker of the most quotes gets a prize!  I'm offering to write a short story of the winner's choosing.  Spoiler!  These quotes will likely giveaway who may favourite character is.

"You picked a miserable time to be right about something!"

"You know, I have been to the exercise sphere and I have survived both Harlan and cheese feet!"

"Here is a dog barking at a comet. Here's a dog getting run over by a comet"

"Opening the inner airlock door when the outer door is open is a safety hazard. Please, don't do it again."

"Earth, the Middle Ages. It's about growing old!"

"Yeah, she touched everything at random and moved it around a lot."

"NO! You listen to me! Now you have two choices; either zap me with that cattle prod or get out of my way!"

"Look over there!" "Don't you get it, we're evil. We don't do what we're told." "Don't look over there!"

"We were in Harlan's story AND Catalina's?" "Frankly, I'm exhausted."

"I think he's going to snow"

“Oh hello. I thought you’d wish to know that the ship’s interior temperature is rising rapidly. Hull temperature is at 230 degrees and rising. Complete meltdown of the ship should occur in approximately five minutes and six seconds. Would anyone care for a beverage, with lots of ice?”
“I don’t understand.” “Oh well, when water freezes the molecules slow down and crystallize so that water forms into ice of all different shapes and sizes…”

"I'll be in charge of mess." "You mean food." "That too."

"Thelma, you've got to have priorities." "Alright Commander, when should I schedule them for?"

"There's just one more little thing. It's a bit of a drag really."
"They will destroy you." "Utterly." "Completely. The good news is, we'll remember you fondly." "We will." "Buh-bye." "Cheers."
"My, what polite killers."

Finally, this quote sums up the show quite beautifully:  "Something blew up. And it wasn't us."
